In Honor Of International Women’s Day

I’m coming out of my shell…so to speak. This is my first official blog post.  I’ve been encouraged to do this for years and now feels like the right time. Today feels like the right day being International Women’s Day and all… See, I love women…We truly do rock as a gender and I believe we deserve to feel like it! We live in this patriarchal society that doesn’t exactly do us justice if you ask me.  So a little about me…

5 years ago I was a divorced mother of a pre-teen in Orange County, CA working in the dental field.  I was quite unfulfilled and broken as it were (perhaps I’ll get into more details about that later)…Fast forward to now and I am a mother of 3 boys, married to a wonderful man living in a small country town on a farm.

Today I collected eggs from my chickens and ducks and spent time in the company of pigs, sheep, goats, turkey, a llama and horse.  I found myself dehydrating kale chips while baking organic peanut butter banana bread and breastfeeding while typing up a handout for a ‘do it yourself- eco friendly cleaning product’ class I’m teaching tomorrow….(so naturally I thought I have time to blog) :) I have somehow manifest all these hearts desires in a short period of time and thought it might be advantageous to start documenting my musings from time to time.

So this church raised city girl turned feminist farmer finds herself sitting at the computer… with so many thoughts and subjects in mind, screaming to come out… Attachment parenting, indoctrination of youth, patriarchy and equality, unschooling, herb farming, sisterhood and feminism, cognitive dissonance and circumcision, recipes for health and wellness, conscious living, intuition and spirituality, marriage and self empowerment… and I figure I cant be the only one with all of these things in mind and just maybe if I begin to put some of these thoughts out into the ethers they just might reach the ones they are meant to…perhaps to inspire or simply to share a recipe… but ultimately to make a positive impact on the world.

My name is Jessica… I am ‘Crunchy Herbal Mama’ and it’s a pleasure to meet you!

  1. So. I’ll be the first to post a comment on your first blog post ever. :) Proud of you. SO happy you have a life that is making you happy. Love you!

  2. An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a colleague who has been conducting a little research on this. And he actually bought me lunch due to the fact that I stumbled upon it for him… lol. So let me reword this…. Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanx for spending some time to talk about this subject here on your web page.
